The Fetlar Wind AGM is to be held tomorrow - Saturday 1st October, at the Central Public Hall, Sellafirth, Yell. The AGM is being held in Yell to try and make it a little more accessible to members. Members should already be in receipt of the details and timing. Any members meaning to attend are requested to RSVP, to help us assess likely numbers.
The Fetlar Wind turbines were officially opened at a short ceremony in Fetlar on Friday 1st July. After a few words from Robert Thomson young Darcy Cook accompanied by Principal teacher of Fetlar Primary - Katy Hay were invited to cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of the project. Afterwards they each were presented with flowers by Fetlar Wind director Colin Thomason. The small crowd was then treated to a light lunch with cake at Fetlar primary school.
All shareholders should now have received their share certificates. If you haven't received your certificate please get in touch.
The turbines are now commissioned. We received our MCS certificates and applied for the Feed in Tariff last week prior to the deadline. The turbines have begun producing power at a limited rate. This will be increased as the local energy use scheme is gradually brought into service, tested and balanced with the turbines production and all safety checks are complete. We will be ramping up production as soon as we can. This is an innovative scheme and we expected a few issues to arise but our very capable technicians are getting them all steadily sorted.
The turbines are now up and cable laying to the control building has been completed.
The two turbines arrived late yesterday afternoon. Subject to weather etc we hope to have them erected early next week.
The concrete work on the second base was finished earlier today. Work continues to finish the cable trenching. We are expecting the turbines to arrive on the island tomorrow, weather permitting. All going to plan we will get the turbines erected around the middle of next week. Please keep checking back for more updates.
